More than 1,000 Saudi Arabian medical graduates will be allowed to stay in Canada to complete their training, a much-needed reprieve for teaching hospitals that were unsure how they would handle the sudden and significant loss of staff.
Thousands of other Saudi students studying at Canadian universities will, however, still have to leave the country.

Fifth Estate is complaining because they think spending $55 million on Canadian healthcare is too much. There’s 40 million people in Canada. That’s just over a dollar per person.
Hey everyone! as part of my fourth year in university, I get the opportunity to do an independent research project. My project is taking the form of a survey on attitudes and opinions regarding LGBT school policy. If you have a few minutes and are willing to help me out, you can complete the survey at the attached link. If you don’t want to take it but are still interested in helping me, you can share this post so the survey can reach other people. Thank you!

Eight-year-old Ryken Covino is a victim not just of cancer, but of geography and timing.
If the Edmonton boy were from B.C., Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec or Nova Scotia, he would be eligible for a clinical trial treatment that is “his only realistic chance” to beat the leukemia that has recurred, and the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma the boy has been battling since December.
However, as a rule, Alberta does not fund the medical costs associated with clinical trials and that means the boy who says he just wants to be able to swim and jump on a trampoline again has unequal access to life-saving care simply because he lives in the wrong part of the country.
It’s a rule that needs bending — and fast — by Alberta Health Minister Sarah Hoffman.
“This process has been like torture for us,” said the boy’s mother, Tammy Covino, from the family home in Edmonton.
“I watch Ryken get weaker by the day and we’re caught by a rule that other Canadians in other provinces don’t have to deal with,” said Covino. “He needed this treatment yesterday.”
I live in Northern bc, and today the weather here is “smoke.”
Friends live in Edmonton Alberta and today the weather there is “smoke”
Friends live in Saskatchewan and today the weather there is “smoke”
That’s 1178 km from my town, to Saskatoon, and everything is smoke.
My country is steadily burning to the ground this summer apparently.

PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA
Whereas:
- The distribution of bottled water is a known detriment to the environment and also encourages and fosters a lack of consciousness and respect for the environment;
- If bottled water was to be banned from being provided in Canadian government buildings, it would encourage those who frequent these buildings to adopt a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach;
- It also would place the government in a position of leadership when it comes to the environment which would potentially lead as an example for outside companies and organizations to follow in the footsteps of the government;
- Many institutions such as Queen’s University and the University of Ottawa have already adopted this approach and have provided alternatives such as the installation of more water fountains and bottle refill stations;
- Government buildings should engage in the practice of installing more water fountains as well as the sale of reusable water bottles; and
- It cannot be ignored that there are some locations where local water sources are not safe for human consumption, which is why this petition provides that distribution of bottled water in government building only be prohibited where the local water source is safe to consume.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to stop providing bottled water in government buildings where local drinking water is safe for consumption.
The petition is open for signatures until September 28th, 2018. E-petitions must receive a minimum of 500 signatures in order to be tabled in Parliament.
